Thailand Eco-Tourism Internship

The programs are for individuals who are keen to expand their knowledge and experience of ecological and environmental studies.

The tour company will designate a supervisor who will be your guide, friend and mentor, available at all times for advice and possible trouble shooting.

What is an eco-tourism exchange program?
Our exchange program offers students hands-on practical experience with eco-tourism. They will join actual tours on location in natural areas of Thailand. We work with educational establishments worldwide who run courses or seminars concerned with eco-tourism, biology and even marketing techniques in the travel business

Who should apply for our program?
Students of tourism, environmental studies, sustainable ecologies, eco-tourism, conservation management, biology, marine biology, zoology, botany etc. (particularly the travel business).

How long does each program run?
Program duration lasts from two to twelve weeks. You need to inform us if you wish to stay longer also inform us the reason.

What does a program entail?
Students can learn, develop and utilize a number of skills. We hope that they will also bring fresh ideas and skills into our expanding business, as well as supporting members of staff in all facets for the company operations. Students are free to participate in all or any of the areas that interest them. They will work with one supervisor who will be their mentor for the whole period. He/she will ensure that the student is fully briefed in all aspects of the program and is there for advice and assistance whenever required:

From their practical experience students will learn about the fundamental issues of eco-tourism in Thailand at the Bangkok offices. They then have the choices to participate in one or more of the following:

• Participate in the day-to-day operations of our ecotourism business either in our office or on location
• Carry out market research and publicity with our experienced staff
• Join the companies research effort and publishing arm to develop literature on ecotourism, conservation, and the local marine life
• Join our tours with actual customers at different locations for closer study of natural environments
• Become introduced to all of the members of our staff and understand the different roles associated with a tour company such as administration, transportation, equipment, accommodation and guiding
• Attend field inspection trips with the company. These are new destinations that companies inspect with a view to creating new tours. Students will get an insight into the logistics, finances, safety and environmental issues associated with compiling new tours
• Attend cultural tours including archeological and temple sites and also local or national celebratory events in which they will gain knowledge about cultural activities

What are the student tasks?
At the end of each program period, no matter how long, students must prepare a detailed report on their experiences and knowledge gained throughout the period and submit them to the supervisor. We will produce a letter of recommendation concerning the student progress and attitude which the student can take back to their education establishment.
